LA2: Contributing in a Technical Capacity to the Creation of a Video Project
My shoot took place in two main locations: my house, and Liverpool. While this stands, when filming in Liverpool I shot in several different locations, e.g. Mathew Street, Albert Dock, Penny Lane, etc.
Equipment wise, I shot the footage needed in Liverpool using a Canon camera, borrowed from the college since I don't own one myself. Since I was filming mainly outdoors and in several different locations ( as I went on a bus tour around the city to the main Beatle spots ) I didn't take any lighting or tripods with me. Since I was moving around a lot, it wouldn't be ideal to carry those things around the city with me, also from the beginning I planned not to use those pieces of equipment as I wanted it to look as if I filmed the whole thing by hand, making it feel more home made. As well as this, I decided not to use a mic since there is no dialogue in my film ( being a montage ) but also because I'm putting sound over the clips to portray the feeling of it being a group of memories.
When it came to production activities, there wasn't a lot. Since I was only in Liverpool for two days, I needed to get the perfect shots there and then as I couldn't just go back. Due to this, when I was going to the main locations like The Cavern Club and Strawberry Field, I made sure to take more shots than needed, this way I would have more than enough and could choose the best ones when it came down to editing. Also, I originally planned to film outside of the famous Albert Dock and around the area, since outside the views are great to look at and there is so much going on - this failed to happen since the day I went into central Liverpool to film, it began to rain extremely heavily... This resulted in me getting more shots of the surroundings from the tour bus window, and filming inside of places such as the large Beatles gift shop on Mathew Street.
As my film is a montage and contains no cast, as well as me only using one piece of equipment - the camera, I don't have any shots of the cast in action or of my setup. In addition to this, here are some photos featuring some locations in which I filmed at:
