LA3: Know about research techniques

What techniques can be used to conduct research?

To conduct research you could use the internet, which there are both advantages and disadvantages to. Some advantages of the internet are that it is accessible anywhere and anyone can access it, meaning the information you are looking for is practically limitless due to the mass amount of websites. A disadvantage to the internet is that there are a lot of sites providing false information.

Another way you could conduct research is by using a library. While the internet has many disadvantages, the library doesn't have any at all. This is since it provides you with factual books on everything you would ever want to find out. Another advantage to using a library is that if you needed help finding something there would be a librarian around to help. Lastly, library's are professionally set out so that it's easier for you to find what your'e looking for, which could save time.

Thirdly, a way of conducting research could be to do interviews or create surveys. This way you are able to find different peoples opinions on different topics. While the results may not be factual, it lets you see peoples views and and how they differ to others. Along with this, you could create a survey. This would let you ask people questions and ask why they think that way, giving you an accurate answer which lets you draw conclusions easily.

How might you keep an information trail of the research you have undertaken? Why is this important?

An information trail is used to keep track of everything you've researched like which websites at a certain date and time. A way I could keep an information trail would be through my surveys, as I know which questions I have asked and the answers I've received to help me find out peoples viewpoints. This is important since when making a film the main aim is to appeal to your audience so that they enjoy it, so by knowing their viewpoints I get to see their likes and dislikes.

What different ways may you collect you research? Why is it important to collate your research?

To collate your research, it would be best to label it appropriately. To do this you could label it either by the name, the date completed, the topic, etc. This way you will save time when trying find things, reduce loss of data as you know where everything is and could even reduce errors.

What ways may you store your research? Why is this important?

Storing your research links into organizing, since you should know where you store it so you can easily access it/come back. When storing your research, make sure you also save a copy therefore if you did lose it you have an extra. While storing your data on your device or account, a safer option may be to save it onto a SD Card or USB therefore you always have another copy.
